Lab objective: Set up an Active Directory environment that is self contained and can be used for classroom activities.

Resources Needed:

• VMWare
• Computer with at least 16GB RAM. (32 GB Preferred.)
• Foundationsl knowledge of networking and network protocols.

We’ll be creating a topology that looks like this:

Topology Overview:

• We’ll install an evaluation copy of Windows Server
  • This will have two NICs
    • One will provide internet access and connect to your local LAN
    • One will connect to a VMWare private network
      • This is where we’ll configure our Active Directory Environment
• We’ll install an evaluation copy of Windows 11
  • This will have two NICs
    • One will provide internet access and connect to your local LAN
    • One will connect to a VMWare private network

Install Windows Server 2022

• Look in SYNCED_FILES —>VM_TEMPLATES
• Not there? You can download it here

Open VMWare Workstation and select ‘Create New Virtual Machine’

• Note: You have to use VMware Workstation Pro for these labs. (Not VMWare Player)
